WESTMONT, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- PennDOT officials released Tuesday afternoon the latest version of the Goucher Street Improvement Project.

"Some of the changes we highlighted today came from public involvement," said Vince Greenland, Assistant District Director, Executive Design, PennDOT.  "Anytime someone does not understand what we are doing and has questions we take it personally and try to communicate better.:

The Goucher Street Project has been in the works since 2008, the goal is to make it safer for the community.

"That's part of our process, it's what we do to hear the community and provide the best project out there," said Thomas Prestash, District Executive.  "We listened to the communities concerns and address them."

After the public meeting in May, officials re-evaluated their plan.  It now includes taking down fewer trees, and agreeing to replant the ones they can and will complete the project in sections so businesses are not suffering the entire seven months.

Residents in the area received a letter from PennDOT about a meeting on February 20, 2013 at The Church of the Brethren in Westmont.  They must RSVP before the meeting.

The project will cost about $3.5 million and begin in the spring of 2014.  To watch the video of the new proposed plan click on the Goucher Street Project for details.
