Water Problem Closes Roadway

ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - A big water main break in the City of Altoona shut down part of a busy State Highway. Altoona Water Authority crews spent Wednesday digging up part of Union Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in the city.

That section of roadway was closed to traffic for much of the day.  Drivers were forced to take a short detour until the repairs were completed.  The water line break was reported about 3:30 Wednesday  morning. While water service to a few customers was cut, the bigger problem was the amount of work needed to repair the broken water line and the roadway.

The section of Union Avenue closed by the water main break was opened back up  to traffic at 2 in the afternoon..
