EMPORIUM, CAMERON COUNTY -  Around 9:45 Thursday morning police were called to an apartment building fire along Alleghany Street in Emporium for reports of a fire with entrapment.

Upon arriving police say a Andrew Zimmer, 50, was already carrying his bed ridden neighbor out of the home. They helped him get her out the door.

"From what the firefighters told me , he walked in when the house was engulfed in flames; for him to do that, the guys a hero" said Ralph McKimm.

McKimm lives directly next door to what use to be the 4 apartments.

" We came back and the back of the house was totally engulfed in fire" he said.

His house was damaged by the heat.

"There'a nothing you can do. You just hope it stays in one location and doesn't spread " he said.

Firefighters were able to contain the flames. Within 2 hours they were completely out. The building is a total loss.

The little boy and the man are okay. The bed ridden woman was taken to the hopital as a precaution.
