ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY  -  Because of wide-spread property damage in this region caused by the remnants of Hurricane Sandy, there has been a lot of demand for home repair crews.

A number of home repair companies reported on Wednesday that their phones have been ringing off the hook for the past couple of days.

A two man crew making emergency repairs to an Altoona home on 19th Street near 23rd Avenue said that they have been running from job to job since the storm eased up.   With plenty of damage reports and job orders flowing into the home office, one general contractor says it is all the company can do to keep up. That because many homes and commercial buildings suffered extensive damage.

Workers on a different Sandy repair job in the City of Altoona say more work is being offered to them before they can finish their current assignment.  But approaching winter weather is another concern for some of the home repair workers. They say their future jobs may be limited by weather conditions.

Workers pointed out that when snow starts flying, it is hard to complete roof repair jobs.  Some of the work offered to them might have to wait until spring.  Because of demand for assistance, some home repair companies  in the region are now focusing on emergency repair jobs at least for the time being.
