The long term R-V lot off of Park Avenue opened for business at Six Thursday evening. By mid day on Friday there were already about one hundred R-V units in place. All of the people gathering in the long term camping lot were die hard supporters of Penn State Football.
The campers come from all over Pennsylvania and surrounding states. A common theme among them was that it is time to put Penn State's recent problems behind them and focus on the positives of what they call a great University.
Gathering well before kick-off is a huge tradition for the Nittany Lion fans. And this year more than ever, the faithful say they have a message they want to deliver as supporters of the football program.
Many of the people who have taken up residence in the R-V lots say they were not about to let the N-C-A-A change the way they support their team. For the Penn State fans who always come early and stay late, gathering out side the stadium is about more than football. A couple of the campers said there is one change this year they don't like. Because of new restrictions on the use of campus buildings, they will no longer be able to use some showers in the Intramural Building and when you're camping for a couple of days, the lack of a shower can be an issue. Other than a few minor complaints, the Penn State fans are looking forward to a great weekend and a good football game on the Penn State Campus,
