We are pleased that the jury in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs. Gerald A. Sandusky case returned a verdict that affirms the testimony of victims, who bravely came forward to confront their abuser in a court of law.
In cases of serial pedophilia, we know that there are often many victims that do not come forward out of fear, shame or embarrassment. Now that justice has been served in this case, we hope that other victims will be encouraged to come forward to report crimes committed against them.
As they do, we need to offer our support and encouragement. For victims everywhere-- particularly victims of child sexual abuse--we must begin by believing.
