Updated: January 29, 2013
The State Health Department is reporting the first death of a resident under the age of 18,  from the flu. That was one of 27 flu-related deaths in Pennsylvania, last week.

So far, since September, 102 people in the state have died of illnesses related to the flu. Most of
the deaths occurred in people of 65.

The virus is still considered widespread across PA although the number of emergency room and doctors visits related to influenza has dropped. They remain higher than normal.
