Day One: Bear Harvest 2012

Results from the first day of Pennsylvania's bear harvest have been revealed.
The four day bear hunting period began on Saturday -- here's a look at those numbers.
More than 1,500 in 51 counties have so far been harvested.
That number is down more than 400 hundred compared to last year.
A total of 151 bears where harvested in Clinton County -- and 57 in Centre County.
The top 10 bears processed at check stations by Monday all had estimated live weights that exceeded 530 pounds. Timothy J. Moffett, of Barto, harvested the largest bear so far this season. It was a 652-pound (actual live weight) male taken in Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County.
Other large bears (all estimated live weights) included: a 620-pound male, taken by Robert A. Pitts, of Meadville, in Roulette, Potter County; a 598-pound male, taken by Michael P. Intallura, of Renovo, in Noyes, Clinton County; a 559-pound male, taken by Clayton L. Dulaney, of Towanda, in Auburn, Susquehanna County; a 551-pound male, taken by Michael T. Guenot, of Snow Shoe, in Snow Shoe, Centre County; a 550-pound male, taken by Brian M. Stanley, of Pittsburgh, in Bradys Bend, Armstrong County; a 536-pound male, taken by Aquilla S. King, of Montgomery, in Clinton, Lycoming County; a 535-pound female, taken by Thomas M. Miller, of Lock Haven, in McHenry, Lycoming County; a 535-pound male, taken by David J. Shelinski, of Picture Rocks, in Deerfield, Tioga County; and a 531-pound male, taken by Randall D. Michel, of Butler, in Donegal, Butler County.
The preliminary first-day bear harvest by Wildlife Management Unit was as follows: WMU 1A, 2; WMU 1B, 20; WMU 2C, 137; WMU 2D, 75; WMU 2E, 24; WMU 2F, 159; WMU 2G, 415; WMU 3A, 98; WMU 3B, 90; WMU 3C, 34; WMU 3D, 113; WMU 4A, 74; WMU 4B, 44; WMU 4C, 62; WMU 4D, 156; WMU 4E, 26; and WMU 5A, 1.
The top bear harvest county in the state on the first day of season was Lycoming with 151, followed by Clinton, 126; Tioga, 88; Warren, 63; and Potter, 62.
Opening day harvests by county and region are:
Northwest: Warren, 63; Clarion, 42; Forest, 30; Jefferson, 28; Venango, 26; Erie, 5; Butler, 4; and Crawford, 3.
Southwest: Somerset, 49; Fayette, 44; Westmoreland, 16; Armstrong, 14; Indiana, 8; and Cambria, 6.
Northcentral: Lycoming, 151; Clinton, 126; Tioga, 88; Potter, 62; Centre, 57; Clearfield, 52; McKean, 45; Union, 45; Cameron, 38; and Elk, 37.
Southcentral: Huntingdon, 51; Bedford, 47; Mifflin, 30; Juniata, 20; Blair, 19; Perry, 17; Fulton, 13; Franklin, 8; Snyder, 5; and Adams, 1.

This four day bear season wraps up on Wednesday - as there is no hunting on Sunday.
