PA Helps Out New York and New Jersey

HARRISBURG, PA -- Governor Tom Corbett says Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath killed three people in Pennsylvania and left more than one million without power.

According to the governor, thirty-eight Pennsylvania counties declared a State of Emergency and six hundred residents took refuge in about fifty-seven shelters.

Since Pennsylvania was spared the worst damage, the state opened up two shelters, one at West Chester University, and another at East Stroudsburg University,  for storm victims from New Jersey and New York.

Pennsylvania also sent thirty-five ambulances and a mass casualty bus to the neighboring states.
The governor says he won't know until at least next week how much damage, in monetary terms, the state sustained.
