JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY - The Pennsylvania Commonwealth refused to grant an injunction today to stop the Voter ID law before the November election. That means people will need a photo ID to vote.

Alan Cashaw is the Cambria County NAACP President. He's been fighting against the voter ID bill since it was announced. He's been helping people in his county make sure they're ready to vote in the election even though he doesn't agree with the law. He's found some problems but he hasn't found anyone without an ID.

The state estimates there are 80 thousand people without a proper ID. And two Philadelphia women are at the front of the fight. Both women are in their 90's and neither one has a driver's license.

But the PA deputy Secretary of State says that's not a problem because there are over 70 driver's license centers around the state, where voters can get an id for free.

But Cashaw thinks they're rushing this through and forcing a system on people and hoping it works well.
Lawyers already say they're goign to appeal to the state supreme court.

Comments

This is a good law. Only a dishonest person would balk at the idea of showing a valid I.D. card.
