Nike announced in a statement Thursday that they will remove Joe Paterno's name from their child care center. The following are statements issued by the President and CEO Mark Parker as well as Chairman and Co-Founder Phil Knight. Knight spoke at the memorial service for Joe Paterno in January.
I have been deeply saddened by the news coming out of this investigation at Penn State. It is a terrible tragedy that children were unprotected from such abhorrent crimes. With the findings released today, I have decided to change the name of our child care center at our World Headquarters. My thoughts are with the victims and the Penn State community.

Other than my parents, my college coach, Bill Bowerman, was the biggest influence in my life. Bill Bowerman and Joe Paterno shared some great qualities. Throughout Joe Paterno's career, he strived to put young athletes in a position to succeed and win in sport but most importantly in life. Joe influenced thousands of young men to become better leaders, fathers and husbands.
According to the investigation, it appears Joe made missteps that led to heartbreaking consequences. I missed that Joe missed it, and I am extremely saddened on this day. My love for Joe and his family remains.

They keep dancing around what exactly he knew in '98. I have seen NOTHING that damns Joe. What we are witnessing is oin reality Joe Paterno blessing us from the hereafter. Joe Paterno after death is preparing us for the TRIBULATION and the BEAST KINGDOM. This is how they will afflict the believers. As of NOW I withdraw my support from NCAA football, the media, who should have billed this as the accidental misfortune that it was. To continue to say that Joe pa willingly harbored a pedophile to protect PSI us nonsense...and is truly SATANIC.

I disagree with what you are doing.Joe Pa reported to his supervisor what he was told.He isn't here to stand up for himself ..Joe has done so much for Penn State and you people are so wrong in doing this & you say you love the Paterno family oh what a way to show it ..Joe Pa was a good man and he did good by you ..let him RIP ..what a terrible way to show your respect..YOU ARE DOING WRONG
