CLEARFIELD COUNTY - Sunday was free day at the Clearfield County Fair and in the 152 years the fair has existed, the board says Sunday was a record breaking crowd.
Monday, numbers were up a little bit from last year and Tuesday started strong, but did not end that way.
"The rain hit and it stayed all day and of course that affected us dramatically" said fair director, Greg Hallstrom.
The committee has had a plan in place for issues like this and for bringing in more revenue. For the first time ever, they will sell beer during Saturday night's show only.
"Obviously, this takes a lot of money to put on and we are just looking for another way to bring up revenue" he adds.
Hallstrom adds, tickets sales do bring in money, but in order to operate the grounds year round they must make money off of the shows.
"We are agriculturally based, but we depend on revenue from our shows at the main stage to survive here the other 51 weeks out of the year" Hallstrom says.
The fair is sure to be rocking Friday night for The Band Perry and Saturday night for Twisted Sister.
