The Tyrone Area High School club, Youth Action Network, brought in rapper and poet Omekongo Dibinga to address the student body.
He challenged the students to become involved in larger causes, in particular, the Panzi Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He was joined by Arianna De Reuss and her mother, Dr. Lee Ann DeReuss. Both women have spent time volunteering at the hospital. It serves women rape survivors of the many wars and militias in that region.
Tyrone students spent the month of March raising funds for the hospital through Penny-Wars activities, taking donations, and selling African merchandise.
