ALTOONA, PA – Jonel Pacheco blasted two home runs to lead the Altoona Curve over the Bowie Baysox 8-4 Sunday night at Blair County Ballpark.

Altoona got on the board in the first inning after back to back doubles by Gorkys Hernandez and Jose Tabata, both would score to put the Curve ahead 2-0 after the opening frame.

Bowie would respond with an RBI double by Daniel Figueroa in the second and two more runs in the third to put the Baysox ahead 3-2.

After Jim Negrych singled in the tying run, Pacheco belted a three run shot to deep left field to put the Curve ahead for good at 6-3.  Pacheco would hit his second home run of the night in the fifth with no one on. Pacheco finished the night 2-for-4 with two homers and four RBIs to give him nine home runs and 37 RBIs this season, both Curve highs.

Gorkys Hernandez continued his offensive surge with a 2-for-3 night hitting a double and driving home one.  Hernandez is now 9-for-18 (.500) over his last five games.

Reliever Mike Dubee (1-0) picks up his first career double-A win after being promoted from Lynchburg (A) Tuesday.  Dubee pitched three scoreless innings giving up just two hits in relief of starter Kyle Bloom.

Pirates' No. 1 prospect Pedro Alvarez finished 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored before leaving the game with knee soreness. Alvarez is considered day-to-day with the mild injury.

Altoona (27-49) will face the Baysox (41-34) for the final time in the five game series Monday night at Blair County Ballpark.  Monday’s probable starters are right hander Derek Hankins (0-1, 4.15) for Altoona in his second start of the season and Baysox southpaw Bobby Livingston (5-2, 3.97).  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with radio coverage beginning at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.

Monday night’s game will be the first chance for Curve fans to experience Monday Madness versions 2.0 and 3.0.  Fans can purchase general admission and outfield bleacher tickets for $2 and all varieties of 16 oz. beer for $2 for a two-hour period.  For fans wanting to upgrade to “version 3.0”, grandstand tickets will be available for $3.
