HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY - Despite the problems in the State Budget, one Blair County Commissioner says going after a million dollar plus state grant for the Blair County Ballpark was the right thing to do.

Commissioner Terry Tomassetti says the county leaders supported the request for the Ballpark grant in an effort to protect county tax-papers. The one point three million dollar state grant is being used to replace the the playing field and the drainage system at the county owned ballpark.

Tomassetti says the expensive improvements were need to make sure the Altoona curve continue to call this Ballpark home. The turf replacement project is to be completed in time for the curve to play ball here in mid April.
