Babies of Obese Moms in Danger

The newborns of women who are overweight or obese already show signs of heart disease.
That's the findings of a small study out of Australia.

Researchers found the walls of the aorta were already thickened in the newborns of mothers who weighed too much. The higher the mother's weight, the greater the thickness, regardless of how much the babies weighed at birth.

Arterial thickening is a  risk factor for later heart disease and stroke.
