An environmental group says a new study shows that chemicals used to treat our drinking water could lead to health problems.

Researchers analyzed 2011 water quality tests from more than 200 large U.S. municipal water systems. They say, in every system, they found toxic chemicals  that are a side effect of the process used to clean tap water.

Researchers say the cleaning process creates a family of byproducts they call "toxic trash." The Environmental Working Group, which released the study, says the chemicals can increase the risk of bladder cancer, birth defects and miscarriages.
