NASA Using Drone Aircraft in Atmospheric Research

The Ozone layer was discovered a century ago, and has been studied for much of the time since. With the hole in the Ozone Layer coming to light in the 1980s, studying the Ozone has received more emphasis.
According to a BBC article, researchers at the University of Birmingham in England and NASA are working to see how seaweed and other natural elements will have an effect on the Ozone layer. NASA is providing a Global Hawk drone to take measurements 12 miles up while Birmingham researchers employ a Whisperjet that was previously used by Queen Elizabeth.
The project will last several years and the goal is to provide better climate models. It is worth mentioning the project is not focused on pollution's impact, just natural processes as a professor attached to the project said.
