SOMERSET, SOMERSET COUNTY - Crews in Somerset County began cutting down trees Friday as part of an expansion project.

Route 219 is going to expand to four lanes between Somerset and Meyersdale. To make room for the expansion crews are clearing nearby trees away from the road.

The work began today and hopes to cut about 250 acres of timber before April. Road construction is due to begin this summer.
