"Every Day is an Adventure"
"Do what you like, like what you do... Life is Good" -- Me!
Hey there! I'm Kelly, the photographer here at Mr. Food. Before coming to the Mr. Food family, I had been a photographer for some time, owning a business called Kreations Studio mainly photographing portraits, real estate, events, and glamour. I had a studio for 8 years in South Florida, but decided to travel and freelance for awhile, and food photography was calling my name! Besides loving what I do, I get to be a Test Kitchen taster - yummy!!
I enjoy traveling, seeing different places and finding new places to dine at - there's an adventure wherever I go! I'm a "Mac" girl and a huge Disney & Pixar fan! I also started to bake a lot this year, cookies mostly, which has turned into a new passion. Oh, and I ran my first Disney marathon this year, 13.1 miles, yay!
Favorite Mr. Food recipe: Aren't they all good?
How often do I cook? Hmm... I guess it depends on how busy the day, usually on the weekends. Sometimes I plan out the week with meals so I don't have to think about it when I get home, it sounds tedious but it's really not, a few items can go a long way.
Who am I cooking for? Me, myself and I, but I do cook for my mom sometimes. I used to cook for Gramps every Sunday before he passed away... He always told me how everything was always so good, then I found out he couldn't taste anymore! Haha!
How long have I been cooking? Too long for just myself! Haha!
My biggest challenge in the kitchen: Not having enough room to spread out, someday I'll have that island in the kitchen and it will be glorious!
What profession best describes me in the kitchen? Probably an artist, having an art background I love to create with my hands. So instead of using a paintbrush I picked up a pastry bag and started decorating cookies and cupcakes, which has become my new passion!
The kitchen appliance I couldn't live without: Besides my cute little Keurig coffee maker, my stand mixer is my favorite!
My ultimate meal: Good question, probably something Italian.
The one food I can't stand: Not a fan of anything slimmy or fishy... Eeewww!
The food that instantly takes me back to childhood is: "Flying Saucers" - this originated with my Nana, they were made with a thick slice of bologna or ham, topped with a heaping mound of mashed potatoes then some cheddar cheese on top. Stick it in the oven to bake and wah-la! Tasty!! I have no idea where the name came from but when you're 6, it really doesn't, they're just fun to eat!
If I were a spice, I would be: Salt, a little sprinkle adds a lot of flavor!
My favorite food that grows from the earth is (list favorite fruit or veggie): Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries... Almost any kind of berry. Veggies, too! But nothing beats Jersey tomatoes! Growing up in NJ, my Dad always had a garden in the backyard of all kinds of veggies, and it was my job to pick 'em... Tomatoes and eggplant were what I remember the most. Today the garden has grown to fill most of the back yard! Yum!
If I could have dinner with anyone in the world, dead or alive, it would be: Hmm... I have no idea!
Sweet tooth, or salt-craver? What's my weakness? Salty for sure! ... Or even the combination of salty/sweet, although I do enjoy a nice dark chocolate Lindt truffle from time to time, love them!
