US Servicemen Raise Smaller Than Expected

By: WTAJ NEWS

US Servicemen are expecting a raise next year, but they could end up getting less than expected.

Outgoing US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta wants to cut the scheduled raise from 1.7% to 1%. Panetta's recommendation is tied to the defense department's budget proposal for 2014.

While the joint Chiefs of Staff have reportedly agreed to the cut, congress will have the final say when looking at the 2014 budget.
