CLEARFIELD COUNTY - Just because you cannot see them, does not mean they are not there, the homeless.

"It's not Pittsburgh or Philadelphia you don't see it on the street it's a little more hidden there is definitely a problem" said Laine DuFour of Community Connections.

Sometimes they struggle to find those people  not  living in a shelter. Wednesday, DuFour and the Local Housing Options Team searched the county looking for people that may not have a permanent roof over their heads.

"The circumstances that lead to these people being homeless it is unbelievable sometimes" she said.

As are the stories of where people stay when they do not have a place to call home.

" Last winter we had a man, he went from hospital to hospital trying to get admitted to hopefully have a warm place that night" she said.

In recent weeks when temperatures hit below zero she found a couple.

"We have had a couple that's been living in a tent for 2 years and we are helping them right now. They will be in a house for the first time in 2 years" she said.

The Point-In-Time Counts are required by the US Department of Housing and Development. They take place annually during the last week in January all across the country.

Jefferson County will conduct their count Thursday and also on Thursday Clearfield County should have their results.
