PUNXSUTAWNEY, JEFFERSON COUNTY - They are shipping items out of Punxsutawney Phil's Official Souvenir Shop at a rapid pace.

"We have shipped over a thousand orders in January so far all across the country even out of the United States" said Marlene Lellock, of the Chamber of Commerce.

People keep filing into the store.

"Quite a challenge keeping it stocked given the amount of orders" she said.

It is the early birds who catch the best sellers, Groundhog Poop (jelly beans) and Punxsutawney Phil in a can.

The pace of people coming in to get their hands on some sweet treats continues to pick up  a man stopped in from Louisville, Kentucky.

"My daughter is a ground hog baby so each year I stop in here and pick here up a little stuffed animal like this little fellow here" said Willie Tyler.

She must have quite the collection, this year she turns 36.

"I'll buy her ground hog gifts until the day I'm not here" he said.

As he heads home, more people are coming into the store. Friday they will stay open until midnight.

"Groundhog Eve, as we like to call it, has become busier and busier a lot of people come into town early and come in here to get their souvenirs" said Lellock.

They are doing their best to be fully stocked.
