HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY - By a vote of two to one, the Blair County Commissioners took a big step toward selling the County's Valley View Nursing home.

A lot of work has gone into drawing up the request for proposal and other legal restrictions that would cover the sale of the Valley View nursing home.  For the majority of the Board approving those documents was a significant step toward addressing the County's future financial concerns.

With a base bid of more than $11 million sought for the home and its surrounding property, the Board remains interested in getting bids for their nursing home back by the end of January. That's why the push was on to approve the bid documents and get them distributed to interested nursing home operators.

While the majority of the board voted to move toward the possible sale of the Valley View nursing home, Commissioner Ted Beam said he disagrees with the proposed terms of a sale and now supports keeping Valley View a county home.
