"From the civil war up to WWII" said Mel Amrhein of the Rumbarger Cemetery Restoration Project.
Amrhein says though he does not personally know anyone buried in the cemetery, as a Civil War reinactor and an Airforce Veteran he feels a deep connection here.
"Really touches me it's an emotional thing" he adds.
As part of Wreaths Across
Wreaths Across America was formed in 1992 by Morrill Worcester. Worcester once visted Arlington Cemetery and later in life, as the owner of a Worcester Wreaths, placed extra wreaths on graves in the older part of the cemetery that had less vistors. Now, this idea is a national event. During the holidays, Wreaths Across America will place over 400,000 wreaths on graves in 700 locations.
"It makes me proud that I can honor them in this little way. These gentlemen fought to make our country what it is today" said Amrhein.
Wreaths are still available for sponsorship by calling 590- 4929.
