ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Another big step has been taken toward the possible sale of Blair County's Valley View Nursing Home.

The deal could lead to closing a popular recreation site. During the fall season, about 450 kids   used the Valley View soccer fields for recreation.  But because the fields  are part of the Valley View Nursing Home complex, Blair County Officials have decided the effort to sell the nursing home will include the eight acres currently leased to the soccer organization.

The extra land around the nursing home is now included in the offering memorandum that was being drawn up during Tuesday's meeting in Hollidaysburg.  The county's surveyor on the deal used aerial maps to help determine the boundaries of what is being offered and draw up a plan for how long the sale preparations are likely to last.

Because the County officials have set a minimum bid of $11.25 million for Valley View,  and want the first round of bids back by February 1st,  they want to make the property attractive to the potential buyers.

But because hundreds of kids use these fields when ever soccer is in season,   County officials hope some agreement can be worked out   with any new land owner.  The same hope was expressed by Faber Boyer, the President of the soccer organization that has occupied and maintained the fields for the past twenty years.

After investing a substantial amount of money in the fields, the goal of the AYSO  is to make sure kids have a place to play soccer, no matter who owns the property.
