The Pennsylvania  Health Department says the flu is being reported in 41 of 67 counties in the state. So far, the number of cases  per county  is still low compared to previous seasons.

One large  medical practice in Blair County has  seen an increasing number of  confirmed cases since Thanksgiving and doctors in Centre County are seeing the same increase.

But that's not the case in Clearfield and Cambria counties, where there's been no increase in confirmed flu cases. The health department says  most of the cases confirmed up to this point were only positive by rapid flu tests which tend to give false positives.

Around 200 cases of influenza have been reported so far this year in Pennsylvania. Federal health officials say they are seeing above average reports of the flu in five southern states .
