ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - The holiday season is a time for giving and Thursday, folks in Blair County were doing just that.

Celebrating the season.

"I think really just sort of bringing the community together as a community," Robin Beck said.

Folks in Blair County were out to kick off the holidays.

"This is an opportunity to come to one central location to be together as Blair County residents," Beck said.

But this year is about more than just a celebration.

"I think it's important because it's the village spirit," Sgt. Jerry Huffman said. "As it takes more than just a mom and dad to raise a family, sometimes it's tough on mom and dad, so those of us that have it a little easier can lend a hand."

Sgt. Huffman works with Toys for Tots and he says this year, the community support has been bigger and better than ever.

"The community came out in droves for the parade and brought us plenty of toys and monetary donations, so we can get other toys as well," he said. "As we expected, a great turnout and lots of support."

Offering help to those less fortunate is what the holiday season is all about.
