Crimestoppers offering Reward for State College Assault

STATE COLLEGE, Centre County -- The State College Police Department is investigating an assault which occurred on Saturday morning, October 27, 2012 at approximately 1:00 am.

 The assault occurred in the 200 block of Locust Lane near the intersection of Highland Avenue. The victim was found lying in the roadway unconscious. The victim did regain consciousness on scene and was transported to the Mount Nittany Medical Center by Centre LifeLink, where he was found to have serious head injuries. He was then transported by Life Flight to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.

Investigators believe several persons, including the victim, were involved in a verbal fight. As it progressed, the victim was hit by an unknown suspect causing him to fall backwards striking his head and rendering him unconscious. A witness reported the suspect who struck the victim and another male fled the area prior to police arrival.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the State College Police at 814-234-7150. Anonymous tips can be submitted to the State College Police website or call Centre County Crimestoppers to report a tip on a crime anonymously at 1-877-99-CRIME.

Crimestoppers pays rewards of up to $1,000 if your information leads to an arrest and conviction.
