Updated: October 30, 2012

HUNTINGDON - Several thousand Valley Rural Electric members remained without power Tuesday, following damage from "superstorm" Sandy.

The energy co-op reported the number of outages peaked at 6,019 around 6 a.m.

A spokesperson said most service disruptions were caused by downed tree limbs.

As of 7:15 a.m., on Valley lines in Central Pa., Blair County had 1,964 and Huntingdon County had 2,107.

An entire feeder line from the Mount Union, Huntingdon County substation site lost power overnight.

Also, a Valley transmission line that runs from Puzzletown to Blue Knob, Blair County, was out of service early Tuesday morning.

Members experiencing power loss are asked to contact the co-op offices at (800) 432-0680.
