Company Recieves Award for Military Support

Johnstown, PA - Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) has once again been recognized by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense (DoD) agency.  CTC was awarded the Extraordinary Employer Support Award in recognition of sustained support of Guard and Reserve service members.  Only prior recipients of the Freedom Award or the Pro-Patria Award (the highest awards offered by ESGR) are eligible for consideration; CTC previously received the Pro Patria Award.

According to the ESGR, independent nominations from CTC employees were submitted, which is unusual.  Denise A. Gross, Pennsylvania ESGR State Chair, says, "This sends an important message that CTC has consistently provided support to their employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.  CTC's policies go above and beyond what is required by law."

The awards ceremony, held at the Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, PA, on September 13, 2012, was attended by CTC President and Chief Executive Officer Edward J. Sheehan, Jr. and Ms. Peggy Cavanaugh, CTC Payroll Coordinator.  During the presentation, Ms. Gross commended Mr. Sheehan, noting, "Mr. Sheehan's generosity and support to service members far outweighs anything the PA Committee has seen from a similarly situated company in Pennsylvania."

"While CTC offers generous benefits to our military employees, including differential pay and continuation of benefits during active duty, our support also takes on a more personal touch," said Mr. Sheehan.  "We take the time to personally recognize and thank the employees who serve.  Ms. Cavanaugh is the principal communication person for our Guardsmen and Reservists.  I would like to recognize her and the CTC family for taking the initiative to go the extra mile for our colleagues.  Our team ships care packages and signed banners to deployed personnel to show our ongoing support and remind them that we are eternally grateful for their service and protection of our country."

CTC also offers the use of its videoconferencing services to families of CTC employees stationed overseas.  The program has been offered since 2008 and will continue to be offered so that military members and their families can see and talk to each other during the holiday season and throughout the year.

CTC was a semi-finalist for the Employer Support Freedom Award, the ESGR's most prestigious level of national recognition.  The Freedom Award is presented by the Secretary of Defense to the nation's most supportive employers.  A national selection board recognizes up to 15 employers annually.

Recognizing supportive employers is vital to ESGR's mission; they actively promote awards as a key element in furthering employer support, while strengthening relationships between service members and employers.  DoD awards honor the contributions made by so many employers year after year.  To learn more about ESGR, visit www.esgr.mil/.
