There's a Tailgate on Oct. 22 at 6:30 pm at the Mount Nittany Medical Center featuring healthy tailgate food and a chance to learn the stats.  The Know Your Stats campaign is a national public awareness effort about prostate cancer.  The National Football League joined forces to launch this campaign in 2009, encouraging all men age 40 and older to talk with their doctors about their prostate health.  Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Haynes, a prostate cancer survivor and former daVinci surgery patient, is the spokesperson.

What to know:
Prostate cancer, is the most common non-skin cancer in America (affecting 1 in 6 men.)

Older men and African-American men, along with those that have a family history, are post at risk for getting prostate cancer.

As with all cancers, "cure" rates for prostate cancer describe the percentage of patients likely remaining disease-free for a specific time. In general, the earlier the cancer is caught, the more likely it is for the patient to remain disease-free.

Treatment options include: radioactive seeds, surgery.

Know Your Stats Event:

Takes place at the Galen and Nancy Driebelbis Auditorium at 6:30 pm
There will be great tailgate food
An opportunity to talk to Doctors about PSA testing and daVinci robotic surgery.
