NEWRY, BLAIR COUNTY - A Blair County family is choosing to celebrate life instead of being bogged down in sadness.

Torie Lingenfelter was supposed to get married today, but she died in a crash a little over a week ago. Instead of a marriage ceremony Saint Patrick's in Newry held a special mass to celebrate Torie's life.

Lingenfelter was supposed to marry Rodger Knisely Saturday. But she died just over a week before her wedding. Her mother said the clouds opened up and the sun shined right about the time the ceremony would have started.

Saint Patrick's held a special mass for Lingenfelter and her family. Members of the church read passages from the bible about marriage. And the Monsignor told the congregation about the couple's pre-marriage counseling. He recalled telling them they were the happiest could he'd ever walked through the process.

Her mother wants people to celebrate her life, that's why she established a catholic scholarship in Torie's name.
