BEDFORD, BEDFORD COUNTY - Final preparations are underway for a huge autumn tradition.  The Bedford Fall foliage festival officially starts at Nine Saturday morning.   Lots of people are getting ready for thousands of visitors.

For 48 years, they've been celebrating the change of seasons in Bedford.  This year like all others, they are expecting some pretty big crowds. Decorations are in place and the vendors are setting up.   Based on the success of past years, organizers of the fall foliage festival are predicting another big success with up to 70,000 visitors expected over the two festival weekends.

Over 400 craft vendors have registered to be part of the Bedford Fall Foliage Festival this year.  Some of those craft vendors say the large number of visitors is a big reason they come back year after year.
 .
Some community residents say the fall foliage festival is almost like a homecoming for many.   For the businesses in town, the two festival weekends provide a huge business boost.

In addition to filling hotel rooms and other area lodging properties, the festival serves as an important fund raising opportunity for a number of Bedford Area non-profits.

The Bedford Fall Foliage Festival will be held on two consecutive weekends, Oct. 6-7 and Oct. 13-14.   Activities run from 9-5 each of the festival days.
