UNIVERSITY PARK, CENTRE COUNTY -- New safety measures at Penn State's Berkey Creamery are coming with a big price tag.

The Creamery is spending $550,000 to add new features to the building to ensure the safety of its products.  New locks on the doors, metal detectors and an x-ray machine are among the new features being added.

Pieces of plastic were found in half-gallon containers of Creamery ice cream on three separate occasions earlier this year.  Creamery manager Tom Palchak says that sales of their ice cream have remained nearly steady since the recall.

They hope to have all of these safety features installed by November.
