Penn State Releases Annual Report on Campus Crimes

UNIVERSITY PARK, CENTRE COUNTY -- Penn State released its security and fire safety report on Friday, which is issued annually as part of the university's compliance with the Clery Act.  The report indicated a general increase in reported crimes.

There were 30 reports of forcible sexual offenses  in 2011, which is up from 10 in 2009 and 5 reports in 2010.  However, 11 of the 30 reports from this year were from previous years, but were reported in 2011.

Reports of burglaries on-campus increased from 66 in 2010 to 130 in 2011.  There were also significant increases in drug and alcohol arrests.
