LAWRENCE TWP, CLEARFIELD COUNTY - Hundreds of cars travel down Interstate 80 each day. Monday morning one of those drivers noticed tracks near the 118 mile marker on I-80 West and followed them to an unknown crash site.

A van had gone off the road 200 yards, hit multiple trees and went down a 40 foot embankment, but no one saw the accident. The first call about it was from the driver who found it.

As crews arrived on scene they found a man dead in the van. It took over an hour to recover the body from the car and State Police began investigating the crash.

At this time, there is no information on when the initial crash took place, but the headlights in the van were still on.

State Police have not released any information.

A towing company was able to remove the van around 3:00 Monday. It took them an hour and half to get the van up the hill.
