HYDE, CLEARFIELD COUNTY - Someone made quite an effort, but couldn't actually break into a convenience store overnight.

It happened around 4:15 a.m. Monday at the Uni-Mart on Graham Street in Hyde, Clearfield County.

State Police said an unidentified person or persons cut a padlock to the electric room and turned off the breakers.

They then went around to the back of the store and cut the phone and water lines.

Finally, the would-be burglar damaged a front window, but never got inside, and then fled.

State Police estimated $1,300 worth of damage was done to the Uni-Mart.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call troopers in Clearfield at (814) 857-3800.
