The man that wrote "Paterno", a highly debated biography on the legendary coaches' life, visited State College on Friday.
When Joe Posnanski's "Paterno" was released in late August, he says critics clamored that it was the worst timing in history. Since then, it debuted atop the New York Times best sellers list. Posnanski met with several hundred people at The HUB at Penn state. He says that after Paterno repeatedly denied his request to write the book, he begrugedly accepted it. Well, sort of...
"...they called me, and said Joe said, if you want to do the book, he won't stop you. Which for Joe paterno, as you know, and I'm sure all of you know, that's like an open arm invitation..."
Posnanski says that Paterno left him all of his personal files in a duffel bag, which he called a quote "treasure trove". He says they helped in the writing of the book.
