STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY -  Al Pacino has reportedly  been recruited to portray legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno in an upcoming movie.

The hall of fame college coach died this past January surrounded by scandal.

Now according to Deadline.Com, an effort is being made to turn the current New York Times bestselling book "Paterno" into a film.

The movie version would depict Paterno's life and his highly-publicized fall from grace.

Pacino has played a football coach before.    He starred in the 1999 Oliver Stone film "Any Given Sunday".
