BELLEFONTE, CENTRE COUNTY - Investigators return to the scene of a fire that gutted an historic building in Centre County.

The Bellefonte Fire Chief and State Police Fire Marshal arrived at the site Monday morning to investigate the cause.

Flames broke out a little after midnight Sunday morning on the 100 block of High Street.

It destroyed several business including the Hotel Do De, a bar, a beauty shop, and a gun store.

The theater next door was also damaged, but was empty.

Firefighters say the age of the buildings made it difficult to stop the blaze.

It took fire crews nearly six hours to battle the blaze over the weekend.
