"I lost me entire department that day," said Liam Flaherty, a New York City firefighter.  "I always felt a need to come to these other places."

The Tour of Duty Ride began on August 12, 2012, in San Diego at the USS Midway. The 30 day journey takes these first responders over 2600 miles across the United States. They stopped Thursday at the Flight 93 Memorial to pay tribute.

"I made a pack to the 343 brothers I lost that day to never let it go to wayside."

Proceeds from the ride will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the New York City Police & Fire / Widow's and Children's Fund.

The ride will conclude on September 10, 2012 in New York City.
