Altoona Fires Deliberately Set

Investigator Mike Tafano says the fire that ripped though a storage building on 18th Street in Altoona Sunday night was deliberately set. It appears some one broke into the building and set fire to a camper that was stored inside.
The fire that extensively damaged two adjoining commercial buildings in Altoona early Tuesday was also arson. In this case the fire was deliberately started in a narrow space between the two buildings.
Investigator Tafano says there was some kind of incendiary device used to start that fire. But the structure was so badly damaged the fire inspector says he was unable to recover the device that was used to start the fire.
The Fire Inspector says there does not appear to be any connection between the two fires at this time. The Investigation into who set the fires is now in the hands of the Altoona Police Department.
