Police Release Regional DUI Checkpoint Statistics

FERGUSON TOWNSHIP, CENTRE COUNTY - The Centre County Alcohol Task Force released statistics Monday morning about its weekend efforts.
Officers from Ferguson, Patton and Spring townships collaborated on DUI Roving Patrols and Cops-n-Shops operations from Friday, Aug. 31 through Sunday, Sept. 2 in the Centre region.
Ferguson Township Police Sgt. Ryan Hendrick, the task force's coordinator, said four people were arrested for DUI.
In addition, one person was arrested for drug possession, 7 non-traffic citations were issued, 29 traffic citations were issued, and 34 warnings were given out for various violations.
The Centre County Alcohol Task Force will set up its next impairment checkpoint this Friday, Sept. 7.
Hendrick also said similar efforts will be conducted throughout the year "in an aggressive effort to reduce alcohol, and alcohol/drug related crimes" in the community.
