FAA Investigates Fatal Crash

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, MIFFLIN COUNTY - The Federal Aviation Administration is taking over the investigation of a fatal helicopter crash in Mifflin County.

It happened around 9:30 Saturday morning in Wayne Township. Kenneth Smith of McVeytown died when the two passenger helicopter crashed in a field near US Highway 522.

State police helped secure the scene. But the investigation into what caused the crash will be handled by the FAA. The 62 year old man was killed on impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.
