Every Seat for Every Event Sold

By: Brian Stalter
Updated: July 31, 2012
Every seat for every event has been sold out. If this is true, fans want to know why so many seats are empty.  The marquee swimming final with Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte saw hundreds of empty seats. Tennis matches at Wimbledon, one of the world's premiere athletic venues, only fill half the stadium. Adding to the outrage are fans who see the empty seats on TV after being told no more tickets were available.

Organizers have launched an investigation to solve the issue. They found out some people leave events after seeing a specific athlete or matchup. Some venues at the London Games are reselling seats when tickets go unused or the ticketholder leaves early. Fans and media have criticized the system of reselling tickets saying it is inefficient.

Despite the low attendance, some events have created a loud and energized atmosphere. Swimming fans say the crowd at the London Aquatics Centre has been deafening even with empty sections of seats.

So far organizers have discovered most of the unused tickets were sold to corporations and sponsors. British troops are being used to fill seats until organizers find a better solution.

Who cares, someone paid for that seat and if they choose not to user it why does it matter? And personally if I had paid for a seat and it was re-sold because I wasn't in it at the time I'd expect a refund or a cut of the profit of re-selling MY seat. Also, what happens if they re-sell your seat and you then show up to use it? All Sounds Like BS to Me.

Humbug. Mitt Romney was right when CBS tried to blow his comments out of proportion and create an international event...the games are poorly organized.
