The city of Altoona is targeted for West Nile spraying the first week of August. It's scheduled for residential areas in the late evenings of  Wednesday, August 1 and Thursday, August 2.

The West Nile Programs of Blair County and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources will conduct the truck-mounted ultra-low volume operation  to get rid of adult mosquitoes.

Residents are urged to eliminate standing water in containers, gutters and pools around their homes.

You can make a mosquito complaint by calling the Blair County mosquito coordinator at 940-5901.
