"It's encouraging people to see that both discussions are happening in this community and we really need to ask ourselves which one it is we want to identify with," said Spud Marshall.
Marshall works at New Leaf Initiative in State College and he says the table that sits along Fraser Street is a way for folks to voice their opinion.
A question is placed on the table everyday. Tuesday's task was to finish the phrase, "We are..."
Rob Fillmann wrote "praying" on the table. He says it's something the community needs.
"I think our community is really struggling right now and looking for answers," Fillmann said. "I think it's really a spiritual battle at the bottom of it all."
Marshall says so far, the table has gotten a lot of feedback. He says whatever the opinion of Penn State and the community, it's time for folks to move forward.
"I think what we need to do as a community, as a university is to say we are striving to become something better," Marshall said. "If we can encourage people to think about that, look at the history of what the chant means, hopefull that has people digging a little bit deeper into what our identity is."
