Red Flash Men's Basketball Lends Hand

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Saint Francis University men's basketball team swapped its uniforms for tool belts on Saturday, July 7 when it spent the day volunteering at an Altoona Habitat for Humanity project.
The entire Red Flash team was on hand to do its part by hanging drywall, assembling cabinets and clearing brush from around the home. Steve Danfield helped to coordinate the team's involvement, which was ultimately driven by SFU's three captains - Tony Peters (Roselle, N.J./Seton Hall Prep), Anthony Ervin (Chesterfied, Va./Fork Union Military Acadamy) and Umar Shannon (Atlantic City, N.J./Atlantic City).
"This was something our captains came up with as a way to give back to the community," said Shannon. "We think it's important for us to get out into the community and do things like this. Not only did we help out a local family, but it was also a good opportunity for our team to come closer together."
Shannon added that he expects the team to become involved with similar causes in the future.
