This new 10 week program begins this week with a small group of 8 to 13 year old girls. They'll meet after school with lessons that get the girls moving.
"In the long term, we are looking to reduce the likelihood of risky behaviors, whether that's drug and alcohol involvement or sexual activity or skipping school, " adds Hinkle.
Part of an international group - with over 100,000 Girls On the Run active, the mentoring program ends with a 5K run for mentor and participant.
Plans are to slowly expand into neighboring school districts in the Centre county area - aimed at developing Fit Kids - girls - first and foremost.
Volunteer coaches and running buddies are needed for the next program beginning this Fall. All the details and a link to this new organization are available here.
